Law Enforcement Training highlights

-5 week training academy before I started in the detention center and an 8 week field training program.

-13 week Colorado Peace Officer Standard Training program through Northeastern Junior College

-15 week patrol field training program.

-While at the jail and on patrol, I received an average of 100 hours of scheduled in-service training each year and 350 hours per year of training for peripheral duties.

-Arrest Control and Self Defense Instructor for 7 of the years for Larimer County.

-2 years as a SWAT sniper

-Sniper instructor trained through Rocky Mountain Sniper Association

-Law Enforcement Supervision course through Aims Community College

Summary of Skills

I responded to and was involved with the investigations of many high profile cases including SWAT situations, serious assaults, riots, missing endangered persons, sex assaults, homicide, and various types of illicit drug-related crimes.  I also handled more common but no less important crimes such as property crimes, minor assaults, DUI-related traffic crimes, and search and arrest warrants.  I spent about 2 years working in the detention center there, and nearly 6 more years on patrol.  About half of the patrol time was as a Corporal with supervisory and administrative responsibilities.

Personal

-Family has farmed in Yuma County since the early Nineteen-Forties.

-Born in Wray and lived on our farm until I graduated from Yuma High School in 1994.

-Graduated from Colorado State University in 1999

-Owned three businesses

-Began working for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in 2002.

-Married to Sarah with three daughters; Emma, Lucy and Liddy
